Great shop with honest, professional people, especially the owner. I've brought my old Ford here several times over the year, and they've always done an excellent job. I also had an issue come up after one of the repairs, and they took care of it under warranty with no hassle or questions. Reliable service and people you can trust. Definitely recommend this place!

Efficient and knowledgable. A sudden issue with my vehicle, they stopped their existing work and quickly solved my problem. Simon knew the answer as soon as he saw it, and got it handled. Office staff are very nice, welcoming. Price is fair, with options given. Small mechanic shops are being taken away by Condo expansion. Go support Black Bear if you like personal service.

I bought a preowned Subaru and did PPI. There were a lot of issues of the car because of the higher mileage. Issues like oil leak, suspension ball joint, steering tie rod, drive belt, etc. Spark plugs were far over their service time. Though the quote to fix these issues was high, i went on with the transaction and started to look for Service shops to fix them. The Subaru Service Center is busy and agreed to squeeze me in in 15 days. i don't want to wait. Black bear came in sight and I contacted them and received very warm, kind, responsive and professional reply. Simon asked me to drive in two days and did an inspection and gave a very competitive price to fix the above mentioned issues. Taniya was nice, generous and empathetic. She told me to call them if I have concerns about my car, which is comforting and reassuring. I went on with their plan and now I have my car back. i hope with Black Bear Crew's expertise and their OEM parts my Subaru can take me and my family to the journey we like smoothly. Amazing place. Great bunch of folks. Simon is super knowledgeable. Didn't try to upset anything. I came for potential turbo boost leak and noisy. Turned out just an exhaust gasket.

Honest review - the receptionist and mechanics were very personable and accommodated me on short notice multiple times. Much appreciated. I did feel though that communication could have been improved with regards to diagnostics. The troubleshooting plan was unclear (felt like we were just replacing components to see what happened). Ultimately, I spent $4,000 and my problem was never resolved. This might have been the case at other shops too, can't say for sure. Ended up deciding to move on to another shop.

Had a car brought in for a pre-purchase inspection. The team at Black Bear Auto was extremely professional, friendly and transparent. They had an extensive checklist, and walked me through everything they had found with the vehicle. My brief visit to Black Bear garage today, and meeting Tania and Duane, reminded me of the honest, straightforward, having-your-back kind of vibes I remember noticing as a kid going into our small town mechanic in the 90s. I didn't think these existed anymore. I had taken my Subaru into a dealership for my first regular inspection since my extended warranty expired and, unsurprisingly, there were several suddenly critical structural issues that required immediate attention (brakes and suspension mostly). It didn't quite add up right and they were unable/unwilling to provide much justification for the costly suggested repairs. Based mostly on proximity to my work (and a great shop name) I called Black Bear for a quick second opinion on the diagnostic and dealership recommendations and was amazed at the level of attention and service I stumbled backwards into by chance--the opposite of my other experience in almost every way. Tania took my call and offered to get me a quote for similar work but also offered to squeeze me in for a quick look on a Saturday morning to accommodate my schedule and confirm the dealership diagnostic. After a quick inspection, Duane quite literally walked me through each recommendation I was concerned about himself, pointing out and clearly explaining evidence on my vehicle that indicated immediate repairs were not warranted. In his explanation, he also suggested some things to keep an eye on down the road that would indicate when a non-regular inspection for the issues I was concerned about would be worthwhile. Going out of town for work soon, this brief chat greatly puts my mind at ease as I might have otherwise been stressed about my suspension failing at every bump or sharp turn in the road until I got back and had time again to rebook for the repairs I declined from the dealership. Everything was efficient, super reasonable, clear, and direct. I don't know what else you could ask for. If you're reading a review on mechanics you are probably in a similar position as I was (or worse) and looking for a new option. I would highly recommend you save yourself some hassle and give this team a shot. For my next maintenance, scheduled or unscheduled, my first and only call will be Black Bear. They clearly run their shop with a mindset of earning return business based on fair and reasonable service and they have certainly earned mine.

A+ experience at Black Bear Auto. I Brought my vehicle in with air trapped in the cooling system from the previous dealerships work. The mechanics were able to air free the system with their equipment. No issues now! I have been going there ever since for all my maintenance and routine vehicle service work. I highly recommend. Highly knowledgeable mechanics and great office staff. Thank you for your outstanding service!

Overall, I had a good experience with the service, and the staff was professional and courteous. However, after the service, I noticed damage/denting on my car's body that was not there before. I was disappointed because everything else went smoothly. I hope they improve their care and attention when handling customers’ vehicles.

I have an older jeep that needing much work done and the folks at Blackbear got the job done in a timely manner and rates are very reasonable. I’m sure glad I found a great trustworthy shop that I can rely on.

Black Bear Auto did great work with servicing my 4x4 vehicle (driveline & suspension, brakes) Good scheduling, turn around and communication with techs. They do alignments as well.

Duane and Simon at Blackbear did a lot of quality work, and kept the cost way more affordable than other shops that quoted me a higher cost for a way smaller job. My ride feels like a new machine.

Charged me $150 for an inspection, no repair.

I took my car here after a dealership told me my head gasket was gone and that it would cost about $9,000 to fix. Since that sounded pretty serious, I decided to get a second opinion and brought it here to Blackbear They did a full inspection in an hour, clearly explained everything they found, It turns out the dealership diagnosis was wrong — it was the valve covers, not the head gasket. The repair quote was about $1,500, which saved me thousands. The team was patient, helpful, and professional the whole time (even with me calling to check in). I'm extremely happy with the experience and highly recommend them if you're looking for honest mechanics.

Apparently you’re suppose to change brakes pads once every so often. Who knew? Well, as a 20 year old girl, my dad failed to teach me that one. But credit to my dad, he suggested this shop and like him using them a few months ago, top shelf service. Great people and a family run shop! Do not hesitate using them.

I was looking to buy a 2nd hand Nissan Leaf and aside from what I've read online and Youtube videos, I don't have extensive knowledge on EVs. I needed a pre-purchase inspection to give me at least a level of assurance that the vehicle I'm looking at does not have hidden problems. While searching the web for a shop with EV expertise, I came across Black Bear Auto Service, and I'm glad I did. Simon received training for EVs and in addition to all the usual checks on a car, was able to evaluate the battery. He took the time to go over the SOC, battery health, and max/min voltage of each cell. This helped me make an informed purchase decision and I greatly appreciate Simon at Black Bear for all his help. I highly recommend this auto shop.

Thanks to Black Bear Auto Service, My 2003 Ford E350 Superduty work van is my go to work van. Had this van since 2003, now mileage is 472xxx kms, thanks to Duane & Simon and their staff getting the complete all 4 brakes replaced. Cost me close to $3600 but well worth it. My mechanic retired and closed shop, now they are my go to shop for repairs. This van is getting old and hard to get parts, their supplier had parts and took 2 days to get back to me. Keep up with the excellent service.

All the crew were responsible and respectful..I was in a jam as I live in the Yukon...I also know a lot about my truck as this is my sixth dodge 12 valve. Duane and Tanya paid for my Uber, kept me updated on the progress and got me on my way with good old fashioned service, no tricks of any kind... Was a very good experience. Black Bear Auto is outstanding and they do exceptional work! I have had an amazing experience with the team! The first time I brought in my truck was for a 3 inch lift install. Before bringing it in I called them a couple times and each phone call was very professional and they were thorough on answering any questions I had. On top of that the quote I was given was spot on and very reasonable. Unfortunately my lower control arms were seized, which is common on a truck as old as mine and that made the camber kit install and alignment not possible to do, however they were quick to let me know that and explained thoroughly the issue that it would cause. Even with this issue they still made sure to get the lift kit installed and to the best of their ability drivable without an alignment ( personally I think it was pretty spot on and had no issues driving it ). What was also amazing and usually unheard of is that they stayed well over a hour after close to make sure they had my truck ready to pickup on that day since I had to go to the island the next day ! That alone sold me on coming back for any other repairs! The second time I brought in my truck was for the replacement of my seized lower control arms as well as the camber kit install and alignment. I was on quite a tight budget for this repair and they were very understanding and went above and beyond on working with me on an exceptional price point! I cannot thank the owner enough for this! Before bringing it in not only were they able to fit me in with very short notice they were also quick to let me know that it was not guaranteed to be done on the day of and I was still able to bring in my truck a day earlier then scheduled! On top of that they worked very hard, including cutting through the bolts / using a torch to fight with some parts, as my truck is quite old, and got this done without any additional costs even though most shops would’ve just replaced the parts! There was also additional time on the labour portion of the repair, however they still met me at the quote we had talked about! For that they have my upmost gratitude and appreciation! By far the best mechanics I have ever dealt with and I will definitely be back. Thank you guys x1000!! James
